Gerald Langiri is an award winning Kenyan actor and casting director. He is well known for the movies House of Lungula where he played the role of Harrison, a role which saw him get nominated for Best lead actor in a film at the Kalasha Film and Television Awards 2014. His role as Joseph in the film Fundimentals also saw him get a nomination in the best actor in a comedy film/TV at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice awards 2015.
His role as Nicodemus in the TV series Stay saw Gerald bag the “best supporting actor in a TV series” at the Kalasha Film and Television Awards 2014. His other roles as Don on Mali, Mr Araka Smart on Papa Shirandula, Police Commissioner on Santalal just to mention but a few, has positioned Gerald as one of the most sought after most talented actors in Kenya.
Gerald began his acting career in the year 2011 with his first acting project being on the Swahili show Mashtaka where he played a defense lawyer. Some the other projects Gerald has been involved include, Maisha (Superintendant), Rosa (Detective Green), Statehouse( Governor Lotim). In 2013, he was the host of web-series talk show titled “in the forest” sparking a wave of web series productions thereafter from the Kenyan film industry. He also played the role of Mr Tembo in another web series titled Rispa.
Gerald Langiri is the founder and administrator of www.actors.co.ke a blog whose focus is the Kenyan acting industry at large, giving news and information about the industry while providing opportunities to actors joining the acting scene. The blog has been nominated twice at the Kenyan blog awards and won best niche market blog at the African blogger awards and Gerald winning the best Film blogger at the Africa Film Development Awards 2014. That blog also assisted Gerald establish himself as a Casting Director and is known for casting movies like VEVE, Going Bongo and several series and TV commercials.
He tried his hand in directing when he made a short film titled the “Bigger Man” which won 2nd runners place in the U-Film-It competition 2012.
He has received professional acting training from Hollywood actor and Coach David Morin and Neil Schell. He also got acting and casting training courtesy of One fine day Films. He however says that he got acting inspiration from drama teachers who inspired him during his primary and high school days where he would perform skits, solo verses and took part in choral verses, public speaking and any art related projects.
Gerald is amember of the Kenya Actors Guild (KAG) , A member of the Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK), was the secretary of the Kenya Oscars Committee and a Member of the Kenya Film and Television Professional Association. (KFTPA)
Born in 29th July 1985, Gerald likes to travel, watch movies, listen to music, swim, make friends, socialize and give back to the less privileged!
